Brian Meunier

Biographical Statement :

Brian Meunier has been working in sculpture for over twenty-five years. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts in 1976, and a Master of Fine Arts from Tyler School of Art in 1978. In 1979, he began his teaching career at Swarthmore College, where he is currently Full Professor of Studio Arts and Chair of the Art Department. He has been the recipient of numerous fellowships and grants, notably a Ford Foundation Grant in 1975, two Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Fellowships in 1983 and 1989, and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in 1984.
Meunier has had numerous one-person and group exhibitions throughout the United States. His sculptures are in the collections of the Museum of American Art at the Pennsylvania Academy in Philadelphia, the Joseph Pulitzer Collection, the Pennsylvania Convention Center, and numerous private collections nationally. In addition to his work in sculpture and photography, Meunier is also a fiction writer. Pipiolo and The Roof Dogs, was published in 2003 and Bravo,Tavo in August 2007 by Duttons Childrens Division of Penguin/Putnam Publishing.
